Happy Trails!

roy_thyme.jpg

My sister has been wanting me to make a card using this stamp of Roy Rogers and Trigger for quite a while now but I didn’t have the right paper. She bought the stamp at Stampers Ink - the best stamp store in Kansas City!

When we were at Jo-Ann’s the other day they had stamping supplies on sale so we looked at some paper and came across an Old World mat pack from DCWV that had some great designs in it that would cordinate with this stamp beautifully!

I originally was going to use the layout on this card that I saw on Julia Staton’s Blog: http://bellepapier.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2007/09/03/happy-labour-day/
But I ended up changing it around to fit the image and ribbon.

The frills on the sand colored ribbon looked western-like and the color matched perfect with this patterned paper and True Thyme cardstock. I chose the oval ribbon charm because it looked similar to a belt buckle.

I printed the “Happy Trails” sentiment onto Sahara Sand cardstock and punched it out with my new Marvy Oval Scallop Punch that I recently received from a friend in MO. THANK YOU!! I added the dots for a little contrast with my Signo gel pen.

The main image and sentiment are both on dimensionals and I added a photo anchor to balance the brass color across the project.

Supplies:
Rearing Horse image (Viva Las Vegastamps); StazOn ink pad; True Thyme, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla cardstock; Old World mat pack(DCWV); White Signo gel pen; Sand ribbon; Hodgepodge hardware; Dimensionals; Marvy super scallop oval punch;

    Kurtis! That stamp is FANTASTIC! What an awesome image! I love what you did with the layout of the card. The ribbon and charm really do look like a belt and belt buckle!

    Another one of your cards that I am in LOVE with. Perfect in every way! Love the ribbon, the pp, the color combo, the hardware…and boy is that punch spectacular ;) Wait, please tell me that when you say you printed the Happy Trails sentiment you mean printer printed…not hand printed. Either way, it looks great!!!

    I printed it from the computer - my hand writing is not anywhere near good enough to try writing that. :)
