Copic TestI received a comment from Holly asking if I had problems with the hybrid inks smearing if I heat set them first. I had never heat my hybrid inks before so I thought I would do a side-by-side comparison to see if it helps.
EXAMPLE #1

On the above example (and my previous card), I used a heavy cardstock that I think is around 140lb. weight. The chick image was stamped in Dark Chocolate hybrid ink in the upper left corner and heat set. Then I stamped the image again in the upper right corner using the same ink with out heat setting it. As you can see in the example, the heat set image did not bleed as much as the non-heat set image.
I also stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink - heat setting the one on the left. The only colors that seemed to effect the ink of the non heat set image was E51, which I used on the birds tail. But to make see if paper type caused a difference in the bleeding, I also experimented on another cardstock.
EXAMPLE #2

On this example, I stamped my images onto 120lb. Pure Luxury White cardstock from Gina K. Designs. Again, I stamped the upper left image in Dark Chocolate hybrid ink and heat set it while the image in the upper right was not heat set. On this example there was much less noticeable bleed on the non-heat set example - just a bit where I blended BG32 and BG49 for his scarf.
As with the first example I stamped the images on the bottom using Memento Tuxedo Black ink for comparison. There was no noticeable difference in the heat set vs. non-heat set images.
CONCLUSION:
When using Copic markers with hybrid inks, heat setting the ink may help reduce bleeding. Also paper type will make a difference in the amount of bleeding that occurs. The Pure Luxury cardstock from example #2 has a smooth coating on it that doesn’t allow it to absorb as much ink, unlike the uncoated cardstock I used in example #1, so you are going to incur less bleeding.
The best way to find out if a certain products work together is to test them out. Don’t be afraid to sit down and toy around with different combinations of inks and paper. Who knows, you may create a new technique!

Cute ChickThis is another cute image that I picked up from the $1* Spot in Archivers. It’s made by Stampendous and he’s just the cutest in his little scarf and cap.
* Technically it’s now the $1.99 spot but I remember when it was the $1.00 spot.

I stamped the chick image onto white cardstock using Dark Chocolate ink and then colored him with my Copic markers; Y00, YG00, BG32, BG49, E21, W-1, & 0. You need to be carefull when using Hybrid inks and Copic markers together, because the Hybrid ink will bleed if it is saturated too much. After coloring the cute bird, I trimmed out the white cardstock added a rhinestone to his hat.
The pattern paper on the cardfront was from a Making Memories package - actually the package that the chipboard flourish is from. I just trimmed it to the size of my cardfront (4″ x 4-1/4″) and secured it to my white cardbase.
I wrapped some Dark Chocolate twill around the cardfront and secured it in a knot. Then I mounted my white cardstock with dimensionals and glued the chipboard flourish to the white cardstock using Tombo Mono-Multi Aqua. The flourish was colored with my E57 Copic marker and then I added three rhinestones to it.
Originally I had stamped the sentiment onto the cardfront but when I went to stamp over it a second time (to darken it one shade) my Stamp-a-ma-jig had moved so I ended up stamping it crooked over the first one. To remedy the situation, I stamped the image twice on another piece of the patterned paper. Then I punched it out with a circle punch, and after distressing the edges, I secured it over the mess-up. It’s all covered up and you would never had known!
Suplies:
- Stamps: Winter Chick (Stampendous), Tiny Talk (SU!)
- Ink: Dark Chocolate (PTI)
- Paper: White, Green and White Polka-dot
- Accessories: Dark Chocolate twill (PTI), Chipboard Flourish (MM), Silver Rhinestones, Circle Punch, Dimensionals, Copic Markers

Happy Friday!I hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas yesterday! Momma’s cousin Ysolde (my first cousin once removed) came up to spend the holiday week with us and we have enjoyed having her here. Traditions at our house include Poppa’s homemade pizza for supper and opening presents only after we’ve cleaned the house. Needless to say we get the house cleaned quickly.
We did have one sad event happen on Tuesday while Ysolde and I were going shopping. A girl sped through a stop sign, colliding with the right side of the vehicle I was driving. Clearly God was protecting us because no one was hurt in the collision. Below is a picture of the damage after the accident.

I also have a card to post today. It uses all Gina K. Designs images and some lovely patterned paper that I picked up in Kansas City. It has the song “Angels We Have Heard On High” as well as snowflakes printed on it.

I stamped the two snowflake images onto Pure Luxury White cardstock using Baja Breeze and Silver Encore ink. I then trimmed the images and mounted the smaller snowflake to the larger one with a dimensional. I secured some brown ribbon around the cardfront and then adhered the snowflakes with glue dots.
The word “joy” was stamped with brown ink and then i added a few rhinestones balance it out.

Penguin FlurriesI picked up this cute little penguin guy from the $1 Spot at Archivers a few weeks ago but I threw away the packaging so I don’t remember who makes him!
ETA: Sandi informed me that the image is from “Stampendous”. Thank you!

I stamped the penguin image onto 80lb. Pure Luxury White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then proceeded to color him with Copic markers. To color the penguin I used E29, E49, E43, 0, and then added just a dot of blush to his cheeks with R20. His scarf was colored with YG95 and toned down with W-3. The sky around him was colored with G00 and B00 before blending out with 0. I colored the ground with W-1 and W-3, blended it out with 0 and then added some “pebbles” at his feet with W-1 again by making little dots. After I finished coloring him, I cut him out with one of my Labels 2 Nestabilities dies.
I stamped the snowflakes from Rupa Shevde’s “The Magic of Christmas” stamp set onto kraft cardstock using VersaMark and then added some flourish stamps from Autumn Leaves. I wrapped the bottom of the craft cardstock with chocolate ribbon and then adhered it to the Kiwi Kiss cardfront.
The penguin image was mounted to the cardfront with dimensionals and then I stamped the word “Thank You” from Rupa Shevde’s “Home Tweet Home” stamp set. For a little more contrast, I added a brown button to the cardfront secured with a glue-dot.
Supplies:
- Stamps: “The Magic of Christmas” (GKD), “Home Tweet Home” (GKD), “Swirls II” (AL), Penguin Stamp (Stampendous)
- Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento (GKD), VersaMark (GKD)
- Paper: 80lb. Pure Luxury White (GKD), Kraft (SU!), Kiwi Kiss (SU!)
- Accessories: Copic Markers (GKD), Nestabilities, White EP, Brown Ribbon, Brown Button, Linen Thread

Butterfly FrameI planned to have this project ready for the release party last Thursday, but the frame took too long to dry and I wasn’t able to finish it in time.
This project uses the new “Take Flight” stamp set from Gina K. Designs. When I saw the detail in this set, I knew that I wanted to try making something like this.

I stamped the butterfly image onto 80lb. Pure Luxury White cardstock and then colored it with Copic markers. The image above didn’t capture the vibrant orange that I added to highlight the wings, but you can see it better in the picture below.
The backing for the frame was make by wrapping some white fabric around a thin piece of cardboard and I mounted the butterfly to that with mounting tape. I poked a hole in the butterfly with my paper piercer and then added a pin that I had salvaged from a dress shirt that I bought. They are the perfect size for crafting and have a little painted head on them.
The black frame originally had a gold border on the inside, but I sanded that off and then covered it with black pigment ink.

The sentiment was stamped onto the fabric with Dark Chocolate ink and then I slipped everything into the frame. I had forgot that I cut off the antennae when I cut out the butterfly, so I added a bit of wire as a replacement. I think that it turned out nice.

Sneak Peak Day #4Remember: Join us tonight from 7:00 - 10:00 PM CST for the release party in the Gina K. Designs forums on splitcoaststampers. Hope to see you there!
Today’s preview uses the set “Take Flight” designed by Gina K. and it is the “one free with three” this month. Let me tell you that it is stunning in its detail! Make sure that you click the picture below to see the large image.

I stamped the butterfly image in white ink onto the olive cardstock and then trimmed it a bit smaller then the chocolate cardstock before adhering it. I used a corner rounder to make the scallop border on the chocolate cardstock and then added a clear rhinestones to each scallop.
I tied a piece of white ribbon around the brown/olive layer and then adhered it to the cranberry cardbase. The sentiment (also from Take Flight) was stamped in dark chocolate ink onto white cardstock, trimmed and then mounted with dimensionals to the card.
Quick and simple, though I really like how it turned out!

Sneak Peak Day #3This next preview is a set called “Hand in Hand” designed by Melanie Muenchinger. This set has images for many occasions - and the concept is really unique!
Remember that tomorrow the release party starts at 7:00 PM CST in the Gina K. Designs forums on Splitcoaststampers. There is also one more set being previewed tomorrow so don’t forget to stop by again in the morning.

The lovely hand image was stamped with black ink onto Pure Luxery cardstock and colored with Copic Markers. I used E71, E77, & E49 for the suit, E50, E53, G000, & G00 for the sleeve, and E00, E11, & E31 for the guys hand. The gals hand was colored with E00 & E11, and then I added the sheer sleeve with a black marker and colored it with G000 & 0. To add a bit of dimension, I colored around the hands with W-1 and bleneded it with the colorless blender.
I cut out the hand image with an oval nestabilities die and mounted it on another oval with dimensionals. I ran the cardbase through the cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder and then ran it through again to smoosh it flat. The result was little rings on the back side of the paper, so I used that as my background on the front of the card.
I adhered the main image to the cardfront, added a bit of Pure Luxury ribbon, stamped the sentiment (also from the set), and added a little bling to finish the card.

Sneak Peak Day #2Today’s preview uses the set “Tropical Flowers”, designed by Gina K. and it was a prize on the cruise. Aren’t the bold images just lovely?
Gina K. Designs is also participating in the “12 Days of Christmas” celebration over at Paper Craft Planet. Today is day twelve of the celebration and the challenge is to use twelve embellishments on one project. It took quite a bit of planning to pull off my card below - twelve is ALOT!!
Everyone is welcome to participate, and everyone who makes a card for this challenge and posts it to Paper Craft Planet, will be put into a drawing to win a Gina K. Designs stamp set. The details should be on the home page of Paper Craft Planet.

The main flower image was stamped onto textured vellum using the “Rock-n-Roll” technique and Dark Chocolate ink. I then cut it out and embossed it with the Labels 2 nestabilities die, and adhered it to a white piece of Pure Luxury cardstock also cut with the die.
The background was stamped with two leaf images using white ink on Kraft cardstock and then dotted with a white gel pen. I then adhered it to the Kraft cardstock base and covered the left edge with nine buttons from Gina K. Designs. The flower image was then mounted with dimensionals to the cardbase and three little rhinestones finished off the card.
I LOVE how this turned out!!
Supplies:
- Stamps: “Tropical Flowers” (GKD)
- Ink: White Brilliance, Dark Chocolate (PTI)
- Cardstock: Kraft (SU!), 120lb. Pure Luxury White (GKD), Linen Vellum (PTI)

Sneak Peak Day #1It’s my B-day! WOW! Two decades seems like a long time to be around! But I’ve had fun, and am thankful for my parents watchful eye and painstaking guidance in raising me. Thank you Momma and Poppa!
Today is also the first day in our preview for the upcoming release from Gina K. Designs. Check out this image from the new stamp set “Framed Friends” designed by Asela Hopkins.

The owl was stamped onto Pure Luxury White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and I colored the background and branch with Copic markers: YG91, E43, E37, 0, G00, BG01, BG23, and B00. I then stamped the image again, and colored the owl with Copic markers: E29, E37, E43, E57, E77, C-3, and 0. After coloring the owl, I cut him out and adhered him onto the first image I stamped. This just made him pop out a little from the background.
The “You’re My Friend” sentiment was stamped onto the teal cardstock with VersaMark and embossed with copper EP. The button from the Archaic BG line was threaded with ribbon also from the Archaic BG line and secrured the the cardfront with a glue-dot.
I finished the design by sewing around the teal cardstock with black thread and mounting it to a piece of 120lb. Pure Luxury cardstock.
ETA: (I guess I was up too late last night, I forgot the links.)
